Paolo Porelli | Italy (Rome) TO USA

Paolo Porelli turned to ceramic sculpture to express himself through physicality and color. He employs the human form as a metaphor for reality, blending personal experiences, perceptions, and art historical references.

His sculptures evoke an archetypal dimension, combining surrealist elements, Pop culture, and archaic symbolism. His anthropomorphic creations estrange the familiar, creating absurd iconography and a new modern mythology. Porelli's work addresses contemporary issues such as societal non-sustainability and the conflict between civilization and nature.

Drawing inspiration from ancient ceramics and modern technology, Porelli uses slip-casting and 3D scanning to transform historical and contemporary figures into unique sculptural subjects. His work explores the fluidity of human identity and the infinite possibilities of creativity, turning stereotypes into archetypes.
